Act for the World: Educational Forum on the United Nations Millennium Development Goals – Event October 22

The Millennium Development Goals Awareness Project will host Act for the World: Educational Forum on the United Nations Millennium Development Goals Forum, an event for students from all majors on Thursday, October 22,  from 4-7 p.m. at Memorial Union, Great Hall.

The Millennium Development Goals Awareness Project – a special project of International Student Services, Global Studies, and many others are hosting a forum for students from all majors to learn about the Millennium Goals and related local, national, and international volunteer opportunities and internships.  The goals target the world’s most urgent development needs, including hunger and poverty, education, gender equality, maternal health, child health, HIV, malaria, the environment, and global partnerships.

Presentations will be given by UW Professors Amy Stambach, Dr. Matt Reynolds, and Majid Sarmadi on the history of several goals and progress around the world. Interactive display tables on each goal will be staffed by affiliated student organizations, and campus and community organizations that facilitate volunteer and other opportunities. In addition, Hypnotiq (Hip-Hop Dance) and the West African Dance of Madison will perform!
