MADISON, Wis. — Buckingham Badger, meet Buckingham Palace.

As seen in the new Badger Insider Magazine, published exclusively for members of the Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA), Bucky Badger often accompanies University of Wisconsin-Madison alumni on their national and worldwide travels.

The magazine gives readers a glimpse into the journeys of “Flat Bucky,” a pocket-size version of the beloved mascot that follows in the paper-doll tradition. In the Winter 2008 issue of Badger Insider, readers can spot Flat Bucky in the Amazon, and Stockholm, Sweden. This fall, Bucky sightings also took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; on the “Emerald Isle” of Ireland; and at London’s Buckingham Palace.

WAA members know that Flat Bucky also has a red-and-white history of adventures closer to home. Kelly Hall Sather of Bellevue, Wash., a 1991 UW-Madison graduate, said Flat Bucky is a fun way for her family to display their Badger spirit on the West Coast.

“My 7-year-old daughter is a big fan of Flat Bucky, and my whole family loves to see what outfits he’ll wear next,” Sather said. “Whenever we see Flat Bucky, we think of Wisconsin.”

Flat Bucky is available only to WAA members, and Badger Insider Magazine is the only place to find the spirited wardrobe that keeps Flat Bucky dressed to impress. Collectors will find new costumes in every issue.

Badger Insider Magazine also features articles about the lives of UW-Madison alumni, campus memories, the UW’s rich history, and points of UW pride. Each issue also captures the Badger experience, as written and photographed by UW alumni themselves.

“As you flip through the pages, you’ll find loads of stories and pictures from alums across the globe,” said Paula Bonner, WAA President and CEO.

Each issue of Badger Insider also includes details about upcoming WAA events around the country, lifelong learning opportunities and campus news and events. WAA Super Members also receive special recognition in the magazine.

Badger Insider was previously delivered to WAA members as part of On Wisconsin Magazine, an award-winning quarterly publication sent to all UW-Madison graduates. Beginning with the fall 2007 issue, Badger Insider is now sent independently to WAA members four times a year.

WAA membership is the only way to receive the Badger Insider magazine, Flat Bucky, as well as other exclusive benefits. All alumni and friends are welcome. Join today at uwalumni.com.
